Joining a Sorority

We are proud of our sororities. There is more than just one way to join. These links will help you learn more about opportunities to join.

Fall Primary Recruitment

This event takes place the week before fall classes begin. It’s a great way to meet all seventeen of our member groups. With specific timed rounds, invitation lists, and limits to the number of sororities a potential member might meet each round- it’s very structured, but it’s a great way to get a fresh look at all of our sororities before school begins. This is how 98% of our members join.

Continuous Open Bidding

Continuous Open Bidding is a way for sororities to pick up a few women here and there. It’s very casual and unstructured and, since not every sorority participates, it’s not easy to tell which sororities will participate in a given semester. It doesn’t operate on a schedule, so some sororities will complete their COB process before another begins it. If you’re interested in sorority membership, though, and a chapter invites you to a COB event, you should attend. If you missed out on formal recruitment, this is a great way to try and find a sorority home at Auburn.

Women in a sorority on Bid Day.

The Auburn Panhellenic Council and Auburn Greek Life have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 developments and its potential impact on our fall recruitment experience. We also reviewed recommendations from the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), the governing body of the 26 member organization sororities, who recently released a Recruitment Contingencies Task Force Report encouraging the use of virtual and/or in-person recruitment with physical distancing guidelines. In collaboration with Greek Life, chapter leadership, advisors, campus partners, and NPC representatives, Auburn Panhellenic revised the recruitment format to enhance the safety of our community.

Revised Schedule and Format

The revised dates for Primary Recruitment are August 8-15. All Rounds will be held virtually.

Information about Bid Day

Bid Day (August 15):
To limit the number of people on campus for Bid Day, parents and guests are not permitted. Chapters may host virtual meetings with parents after recruitment.  You will still have the opportunity to visit the chapter who offered you a bid. We recommend you wear a loose fitting/cooling top, shorts and comfortable shoes. Once you arrive at your chapter’s location, you will receive a jersey with your new sorority letters wear on top of your clothes. Do not forget your mask!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME AS A POTENTIAL NEW MEMBER (PNM)?

Move in and recruitment schedule/ format:
PNMs living on campus will still move into the residence halls early in order to participate in the Primary Recruitment process. More information about early move-in can be found here.
Recruitment kickoff is tentatively scheduled for August 7, after the last PNM move-in time. (Specific time and other details TBA).

Recruitment Week Guidelines:
Masks will be required for both PNMs and active chapter members during all in-person rounds of recruitment.

PNMs will still receive a t-shirt to wear for Philanthropy Round, as well as a hard copy of the PNM Handbook. Due to this, as well as additional costs for recruitment, some of which are still unknown given the circumstances, we will maintain the No Refund Policy for recruitment registration.
